Welcome to the 2016 Highland Sharks Swim Team!
The Highland Sharks are a competitive swim team serving Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Westfield and the surrounding areas for swimmers age 5 to 18 and has a rich 64-year tradition.
The Highland Swim Team's mission is to provide a safe, competitive swimming program that emphasizes personal improvement through stroke technique and training designed to maximize each swimmer's capability in competitive swimming.
Each summer we are growing and training new swimmers to maintain a well-rounded competitive swim team. Thank you for joining us and we are looking forward to meeting you.
As 2015 UCOSL Champions with an undefeated record, we’re looking forward to our team kick-off celebration on June 18th, 4:00 p.m. in the Grove to meet the coaches, other team families and ask questions.
Here are a few reminders before the season gets underway
- Regularly check the team bulletin board and Highland website for swim team schedule updates and information. Information will also be shared via email. New families can sign up for team emails by sending a note to email@example.com. Practice begins June 23, the day after FSP public schools end for the year.
- New swimmers interested in joining the team must meet minimum safety requirements: Swimmers 10/under are required to swim one pool length of freestyle. Swimmers 11/over are required to swim one full lap (two pool lengths) of freestyle. Tryout dates and times are now posted on the Swim Team Schedule page.
- The 2016 swim meet schedule is posted on the Swim Team Schedule page. Please notify the coaches in advance if you know that your child(ren) will not be able to attend a swim meet. This should be done verbally with the coaches AND by completing the team form (available on the swim team bulletin board and/or here). EVERYONE should return this form, regardless of whether or not you will miss any meets.
The 2016 swim team fee of $25 per swimmer will be collected when practice starts.
Finally, we are looking for parent volunteers to run and/or help with the following jobs this season: Team Kick-Off Meeting, Bagel Mornings, 2016 Suit Sale, Team Photos, Concessions, Shark Apparel Sale, Biathlon, Swim-for-Food, and the End-of-Season Picnic. If you are interested in any of these jobs, please let us know.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach us by phone or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
